💌 Encouragement for the Overwhelmed Ministry Leader
Feb 09, 2025How are you doing—really?
Being in disability ministry comes with its incredible joys, but let’s be honest—it also has its challenges. Sometimes, it’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel, especially when it feels like you’re carrying the weight of it all on your own.
As someone who’s led a disability ministry for six years, I want you to know—I see you, and I understand.
It’s tough to lead a ministry that sometimes feels overlooked, pouring your heart into something while struggling with limited resources, time, and manpower. But your passion for this mission keeps you going because you know it matters. You can’t let it go, even on the hardest days.
Today, I want to encourage you with a reminder from Galatians 6:9:
"Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart."
Don’t grow weary in sharing the gospel with your friends with disabilities. I know how easy it can be to slip into a mindset where you wonder, “Does any of this even matter?” But whether you’re working to grow your ministry, reach more kids, or build a volunteer team, remember: it’s a process. Growth takes time, and the fruit may not always appear right away.
In disability ministry, we may not always see immediate results. But how beautiful is it that we get to plant seeds and trust God to grow the garden? The students in our care will move from children’s ministry to youth ministry and beyond. We can’t control when—or if—they accept Jesus into their hearts, but we can control how faithfully we share the Good News.
So, immerse them in the gospel. Sing it over them. Dance it! Act it out! Paint it! Mold it with Play-Doh! Weave the gospel into every interaction.
Disability ministry is so much more than keeping kids entertained on Sunday morning. It’s a sacred opportunity to share the best news in the world with a population often overlooked and undervalued.
Keep going. You’re making a difference. And I’m here cheering you on every step of the way.
With love and encouragement,
Lexi
